Firefighter stabbed for being ‘Gringo’ in Eastie.

BOSTON. An off-duty Boston firefighter was stabbed in the chest early yesterday morning in East Boston after a group of Hispanic men attacked him while claiming they “don’t want any Gringo here,” according to Boston Police.

The victim, who has not been identified, was approached by the group after 2 a.m. inside the Chivas Restaurant at Prescott and Bennington streets, where they told him to leave. He then drove to the Engine 5, Car 1 Station at Saratoga Street, police said.

As the man exited his car, he was attacked by the same group of men who had followed him. After the attack, the victim rang the bell of the fire station and received assistance from fellow firefighters for non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information to anonymously call 1-800-494-TIPS or to text “TIP” to 27463.
